Information is produced at a cost. They are not producing this for you for no reason. What they have to gain is to control you.

A way to resolve this is to make all costs transparent. Know who is creating the information. Know what that are gaining from it. Know how you are paying for it and in what form.

Does it still feel good to share if you get nothing in response? Perhaps those individuals are producing information in order to sell you diet books. Then using followers as a multi tier marketing strategy where as a reward for passing on the meme...
