Of all the fascinating beliefs we hold until we actually start thinking about them, the idea that without government there could be no private property is probably the most hilarious.
It's like claiming that if we don't put the wolf in charge of protecting the sheep, they will all be taken away.
The exact opposite is true:
If there's a government, there can be no private property. Only temporary possession exists in the presence of an entity that violates property rights with impunity.
You own it until they say that you don't.

unfortunately you need government to defend from other governments

That doesn't make any sense to me.
If I had to guess, I'd say you are confusing social organization with government.
Government isn't the only way to organize a society.
You don't need a thief to catch a thief.

what you are saying might be possible in the abstract, but has never been demonstrated in practice, I say this as someone building a novel tool of social organization, so I am sympathetic to this perspective, but an important way of viewing the history of conquest and empire is as innovations of social organization through government enabling the subjugation of weaker neighbors... for example napoleon wielded the first nation state capable of coordinating total war, Hitler wielded the first managerial state sophisticated enough to harness the technology of the industrial revolution, in both cases everyone else had to adopt the new paradigm or be destroyed... the world we live in today is a result of this survival of the fittest game and any ideal we espouse must first be able to survive an adversary

one of my highest hopes for [[treechat]] long term vision is to transcend this game

There is power in evil, true, but it is balanced by the corruption and retardation that come with it.
First of all, I don't think governments will be overcome by war, that's the only thing besides theft they are somewhat good at.
Maybe they will never be overcome, who knows, but the fight against evil isn't just about winning...
But even if war was the only way, I think if the numbers were equal on both sides, statists wouldn't stand a chance. And that's why they don't allow any competing societies.
But yes, statists have the numbers.
If governments keep forcing vaccines on children this problem may just solve itself. Soon statists will be so retarded, sick and autistic that they will just wither away.
