Hayek wrote this book towards the end of WWII when he saw Europeans repeating the mistake the Germans made after WWI

"Look at what we accomplished in wartime.. imagine what central planning can do in peacetime!"

This logic made sense to me when I was not much younger.

"We waste so much money on Iraq... Imagine if we used it for healthcare!"

Americans are going through this now, and I think Hayek's book is enough to set any American straight.
