Everybody thinks.
The question is whether or not our thinking is based on principles and universal ethics, or just narratives that justify our actions.
When we adopt an ideology it is almost guaranteed that we don't think for ourselves, but swallow a narrative hook, line and sinker that was crafted by others.
But even thinking for ourselves is by no means a guarantee that it is based on (the search for) truth. The default here is also situational ethics, not universal ones.
The amount to which our own mind deceives us cannot be overstated.
Unless we put in a lot of work, we always end up with glaring double standards:
"It's fine when we do it."
