If you truly were an atheist/materialist, you would see no value in the lives of anyone who is in conoettition with you for survival. You would find it acceptable and even commendable to kill them all and take what's theirs.

I mean if it wasn't against the law to kill for power or other gains then I'm sure the murder statistics would be through the roof. I don't think religion is what's holding that back at all

no i think it's the law that stops people from acting violently or malicious.

I think intrinsic value is derived from how you treat others and act, but that's just common sense and intelligence (or lack of in some cases)
