It doesn't really matter that Tether isn't increasing the USD dollar supply by printing money. It matters that they're using the new printed money as if they are real dollars, but still pegging it to USD.

It matters that they print 1 Tether out of thin air, sell for $1 worth of BTC, then sell BTC to get $1 USD. That is a crime because they are pegged to the US dollar.
