which is the expand button? the comment button or the search button?

In my own practice I'm trying to discern the relationships of these dimensions to the current thread. What is the practical difference between commenting and starting a new thread?

What sticks out the most to me is that the comment is not autonomous. It is completely contingent on the note it is commenting upon. This is a drawback to the comment over the new quest button. That said, the comment literally "expands" the note it is commenting on. It can do no else.

I'm thinking that I might reserve the comment button for more social use of threads. Search button for my own branching.

Though, the comment + quote + merge feature presents an interesting way of doing revising and editing in a quest.

i think im going to merge the two "branch" buttons, they're really doing the same thing. im thinking that ill just generate the !comments quest in the right panel as a convenience when you branch a particular answer
