How many devs here have their a+ comptia certificate?

Just wondering if I should be focused more on studying for comptia or development skills (based on feedback)

I've been ripping apart and building since at/xt 386(s) PCs, but man they cover a lot of other industry tech in a+

What's your goal with the cert? If you really feel it necessary go for it, I'd aim for something more into the professional aspect of it.

Things have changed tho and I need to adapt, so I am going into IT field, looking for future position as IT guy for company, administrator or if I get further into development tools; a dev. Just getting a feel for Dev's take on comptia and which road to go

Get into the IT field, to have on a resume, I imagine 40% of the shit they cover I would learn as it presented itself, or never utilize the questions objective, but it's a good starting point and would look nice on paper. I am a certified welder by trade

Only reason I ask is because you can skip the A+ and go for a more technical one. I do agree that it is a good start though and worth it to build a base if you have no IT experience.

I went for system/network administration but I've always been IT.

Ahh馃榿 thanks for the response, that's a good point, I guess I'll have to narrow it down eventually to a speciality..
