It depends on what your goal is, but in order to start from spores and get to fruiting mushrooms, You will need these things (this is the 'bare minimum' and what I started with)


xacto knife (scalepel)
still air box (for doing sterile work in)
alcohol burner or a torch burner (for flaming the scalpel)
sporeprint
petri dishes (you can get these pretty cheap from Amazon)
ingredients to make agar (there are a lot of recipes)
Pressure Cooker (for sterilization of things)These few things will get you started with making cultures on petri dishes. You have your lab, your 'incubation area' and your fruiting area. Your incubation area can just be a shelf in a closet or something. Your fruiting area can just be a tote that's modified appropriately. If you want to know more, I'm happy to tell you.
