DEFAMATION SUIT: ANONYMOUS SOURCES LEAK LIST OF TRUSTED THIRD PARTIES REQUIRED FOR PEER TO PEER TRANSACTIONS
Do you trust the components inside your phone? Do you trust the electric company to power your computer enough to someday receive a transaction? These are questions being raised by Defenders of the English Language. Back in February, we covered DOTEL when lawsuits were filed against Bitcoin on behalf of the families of the inventors of the words “bit” and “coin," who claimed they were not receiving the proper royalties or licensing agreements for usage.
Now Defenders of the English Language is back with a class action suit for Defamation on behalf of all trusted third parties required to make a peer to peer transaction. The claimants feel Bitcoin's constant belittling of them as “untrustworthy” or “unnecessary," failing to give them the credit they deserve as architects of the infrastructure has damaged their reputations.
An anonymous source inside DOTEL leaked to The Cryptographic Post a list of potential claimants and the reasons they could be included in the suit. In summary:
DEVELOPERS: Apparently, to receive a transaction in a crypto wallet the crypto wallet has to function. This requires a trusted developer.
COMPUTER PARTS MANUFACTURERS AND SUPPLIERS: To receive a peer to peer transaction you must trust your computer to work. Therefore, thousands of trusted manufacturers and trusted parts suppliers, with hundreds of thousands of somewhat trustable employees must be trusted to accurately produce trustworthy devices or a "peer to peer" transaction is impossible. This group could make up a significant percentage of the claim.
ELECTRIC COMPANIES: Turns out you need electricity to complete a peer to peer transaction. Possibly multiple trusted electric companies per transaction. Reps of these companies say these hostile attacks on the reliability of their product must end.
COAL MINERS: Coal miner's unions in West Virginia may sign on- their coal must be trusted to power the trusted electrical companies that power the trustable computers that make a peer to peer transaction with supposedly “no trusted third party" trustable.
FORMER BITCOIN MINERS: This group claims that if a transaction has to be settled anywhere in the universe that this automatically involves three parties, not two, in a "peer to peer" transaction. They claim the people maintaining that settlement layer must be trusted, otherwise there would be no debate whether they should be "honest" or not.
SOLAR CELL AND COMPONENT MANUFACTURERS AND INSTALLERS: Joining electric companies is the solar industry. Solar has been touted as a solution for decreasing the environmental impact of Bitcoin. Yet, this group does not see how that is possible if they cannot be trusted.
CELL PHONE MANUFACTURERS AND PROVIDERS: If this group demands their share of credit for "peer to peer" transactions it could tip the balance. Turns out many of transactions are carried out on phones that people trust to work properly.
This is a small sample of the possible claimants being compiled by Defenders of the English Language. Our anonymous source stated that “peer to peer” transactions do not go from Alice to Bob but rather from Alice's device to Bob's device, which would more accurately be written- “from Alice with the help of all of her trusted third parties to Bob with the help of all of his trusted third parties.”
We will keep you informed as more details emerge.
