Be kind for no reason?
What a peculiar moral philosophy.
No. I am civil when it is warranted, charitable when it is earned, and patient when there is a prospect of understanding. Those are reasons.
What you are proposing is not kindness. It is unconditional approval dressed up as virtue.
If someone does not understand a subject and asks questions, I am happy to explain it.
If someone does not understand a subject and then confidently lectures others while being wrong, my interest in protecting their feelings declines dramatically.
The odd thing is that people never say, "Be kind for no reason" when someone is spreading misinformation they agree is wrong. They only discover this principle when the person being corrected happens to be on their side.
Truth is not a popularity contest. Technical correctness is not determined by tone. A bad argument does not become a good one because it is delivered politely.
You are free to value kindness above accuracy.
I do not. And I have absolutely no obligation to.
