You are able to communicate with them and some will talk back.
I was able to connect with an ancient Lemurian Crystal once. It spoke to me clearly and showed me a vision of its once life in Lemuria and how we were heading towards the same fate.

Most transmit and receive. Like Quartz for example is great for storing information.
Think of it like this: a crystal has been around for 100s of thousands of years or even millions. It develops a frequency that is in tune with a principle of nature.
