that's not even vaguely what tribes are actually like, so that's an offensive and useless analogy

Twetch ·

Brilliant article. My personal experience lines up with what you’ve written. Almost every other crypto community / tribe has no idea what rules they’re subscribing to. Many even celebrate the fact that there are other monies, devaluing their own money.

Twetch ·

Please change the name of your company to DataDeer. Thank you in advance.

Truth is often offensive. And Daniel’s use of the word in this context meets the dictionary definition of the word “tribe” and is easily understood in context by anyone reading the article.

Twetch ·

i've used weak or incorrect analogies before

analogies are hard

we all need encouragement to do better: keep our metaphors unmixed, avoid or label triggering ones, find rich new sources of analogic material to help each other understand our complex world

Twetch ·

are you seriously saying i shouldn't have interpreted this to imply incorrect things about native american tribes when the illustration is a native american wearing ceremonial clothing :/

you just don't know anything about real tribes

it's a weak analogy

Twetch ·

I am Aboriginal. I understand tribes. Daniel’s article is accurate.

Twetch ·

When you are done looking up "tribe" in the dictionary, please also look up "humor".

Twetch ·

it's just a very mild criticism .. even if you don't understand the criticism, just calmly accept it and see what you can learn from it, that's the most profitable thing to do with a constructive criticism

Twetch ·

That is manipulation. I will decide whether I can learn anything from you without your input on whether you are worth listening to.

Twetch ·

Like, that's just some friendly advice to you, and I even went out of my way to phrase it in terms of what I know you understand to be your own priorities. That's me being nice to you. You're calling being nice "manipulation" which it uh TECHNICALLY is. :/

Twetch ·

I'll decide whether you are being nice to me. You are not. Get it right or risk being ignored.

Twetch ·

Threatening people is an actually unnice thing. I wonder whether your worries about other people manipulating and rejecting you are projection, since you seem to do those things a lot yourself. Or is it because you're acting out something that hurt you. :(

Twetch ·

uhhh ... idk what to say ...... i guess i'm sorry to hear that about your tribe :/

if you're really in a tribe that's insular like that, i guess i'd suggest to you that you try to make your tribe less "tribal"

see how that analogy doesn't work well there

Twetch ·

I'm autistic so I'm familiar with neurodiverse communication styles so I know what you mean. Many people would be very hurt by you seemingly accusing them of being manipulative (in the normal sense where that's a severe act). It was very gentle & friendly.

Twetch ·

You are the one who claimed to be nice. I did not claim to be nice. From your response I now know you don't like being ignored. I will be as cruel as possible in the way that I ignore you.

Twetch ·

You were obviously threatening me. I don't mind if you ignore me. That seems like it would result in me being threatened less so it would probably be more pleasant for me. I tried to convince you rationally of stuff, since you said that's what you're into.
