well, that's an exaggeration, it does use cryptography ........ just basic signatures, though, it's not a cryptographic invention, it's an economic invention that uses cryptographic signatures for identity management
Cryptographic is Greek for “hidden, secret” bitcoin is a public ledger....
the secret is what's used to form the private key which is what establishes identity in the system
cryptography was banned because it allows hiding secrets
