cool, I thought it was purely as space for devs to explore connecting their apps with each other.

who knows what it is! it's just a "protocol", a set of rules,, there was already a protocol "bitcom" for marking what protocol things are, & then a protocol inside that called "b" for putting files, & then the "bSocial" protocol just says, use that stuff to upload a little file with some attributes, like what the text is, what paymail to send tips to, etc.

so all "bitchat" is is an agreement about how to format the messages, basically just that Luke (Satchmo) thought of putting posts where the type is "message" instead of "post", & where to say which channel the message is in,,, then you can use junglebus or w/e to watch for messages & display them in those chats

so that's a technology we made together!! Luke made it & bitchatnitro.com & bitchat.allaboardbitcoin.com are by him, but other sites are by other people, blockpost.network does the same protocol but it's by Siggi, & retrofeed.me does the same protocol but it's by Joshua Henslee, & now anyone who knows how to program can connect any site they want to it

so it doesn't belong to anyone in particular, we made it working together, & it's UP TO US what it all means, what you use a bitchat for, how you act on bitchat, how you're supposed to feel about a bitchat

what i want to feel about it is that bitchat is a place where you should speak somewhat cautiously, b/c there's no delete, but where everyone should feel free to express themselves & make it their own space,,,, it can't help really but be chaotic for a while since we haven't invented ways to moderate & structure it, so it's just this wide open free unconstrained empty space,,,, i think we should build build build, make anything that comes to mind, make so much space that we break it open & make space for everyone's feelings & expressions

retrofeed is my favourite UI - the sounds make me smile each time... doesn't matter how many times I hear them, it makes me feel like I'm IN a game.
