When it comes to driving I have done many hundreds of thousands of miles with over 30 years experience. One could say that there is empirical evidence to draw upon in order to check ones self.
I would like to run this day again but this time against a stopwatch so as to correctly establish what it what.
Your statement suggesting alcohol/drug driving is bad I think needs correction. You need to remove drugs as this is too ambiguous, plus there are drugs which can enhance performance, and that is a fact. An example of such could be a drug that wakes you up such as a stimulant, think of coffee for example and the french people.
When it comes to alcohol I completely agree with you. Personally I do not drink at all although there are some people close to me that do on a regular bases, they even shake or vibrate during the daytime from the effects and yet still go out there in and around the schools where the probability of having an accident with a child is greatly increased.
Further there is data out there which suggests sleep deprivation or driver fatigue causes more accidents than both alcohol and compromising drugs.
I think there is much one could research and write about on this subject beyond the superficial and judgemental. If interested in this subject here is a lead.
