globe means public, lock means private

yes private threads, ie. threads in the private stream, can only be seen by the author by default. but as soon as you mention another user they gain access to that thread and all descendent threads from that thread (but no other threads)

so knovs version of a dm or private message is just starting a private thread and mentioning whoever you want to participate

or you can keep thread to yourself to use as pkm notes diary etc

so to talk behind someone's back in a private post you have to make sure to call them a code name every time or they get looped in ;)
