What do you think www.cityonchain.com is ?
What will it do ? is it a game ? and advertising platform ? something revolutionary ?
Will it break BSV (lol) ??

One to keep an eye on. Is there any other information about it?
it has pretty loading screens. kinda silly tbh. does nothing.
you can put some ads on a city & when you click "more" there are buttons : "dating, otc, merchants, local news, jobs, events, more features are coming"
they seem to have a plan to make it very interesting to own a city, even if it's just a game
What’s it do?
New info:
you can follow their official twitter account here: twitter.com/cityonchain
The website was apparently created by the Chinese community (this can explain why it is slow to load).
At launch:
- The 2 available languages are Chinese and English
- Each city starts with a price of $1
- There are around 950 cities available to buy
Domains are useful because you can put websites there. I wonder what the equivalent here will be.
Well I just spent $30 on cities in Australia. When I first logged on, Melbourne was $500. When I last checked, it was up to $1000. I haven't listed my cities for sale. I'm just sitting on them until I find out how to use them.
The text on the loading screen sound like it could have something to do with nChain and the great one himself
@Kayseezus I guess someone bought Melbourne before you and put it at that price. Same here, bought a few to test but letting them as unlisted until I understand this more
@SVC Yes they have a ton of awesome Craig's quotes
@Pixillate Yes they definitely need to work on building the utility of owning a city if they want to play the long game. They do say that more features are coming but it isn't very clear yet
@Zhell It looks like they've got a historical listing price feature but when I click on it I only get a blank panel load.
@Kayseezus wow I had missed that "Historical transaction price" feature!
Same here: the panel does not load but if I pass my mouse over the blank panel I can see another floating panel appearing with "$1 + the date", maybe they use 1 dataPoint/day
Update : rumors say the website is a gateway to a version of Craigslist on BSV
@zhell Ah that makes sense when you look at the 'more' page of what they're building. I'm still curious as to what that means for people who own cities.
I don't want to be a party pooper but to me this looks weird. No information, no apparent value proposition, the website is rudimentary at best, and sprinkled with CSW quotes. They are selling stuff without explaining what it is. Scams can happen in BSV 2.
+1 could be a scam. a pretty one
@Kamran interesting point of view! Yes we should be wary of scams. However they are chinese so not very good at explaining in english what that is for I guess.
Absolutely, great point to stay wary @Kamran and @Samuel. I'm comfortable losing the $30 bucks I dropped on this but I'm still intrigued at this point.
@Kamran @Samuel, And I made some calculations, the most they can get from a scam is $1k since there are around 1k cities at $1 each), which isn't much at all compared to the work of building the website they have. that's why I believe they are legit
Ha! Some of the $1 cities are now asking for $500 and $1000. $10,000 in one case.
Has anyone actually bought a city for more than $1, or made any $ for selling their city?
I'm also gonna go with scam lol. Why create something like this and shill it so hard but refuse to explain in any way what it is/does? wouldn't be a great advertising strategy for a legit project, would it?

kind like craglist in usa
They want to build more , I knew these guys ,just begining
The historical transaction price loads on the city I sold too. It has two entries. One for when I bought at $1 and the other whn I sold for $20.
Well, someone bought a city I had on sale for $20. Bought it for $1 so I'm happy right now.
Looks like a gambling game to me :)
Looks interesting. I bought a few cities for a dollar each. I have a feeling prices will rocket. Could be good to sell advertising space. Would be nice if users could also make offers for cities. I'll be keeping my eye on this to see where it goes.
New Feature. They now show the latest cities on sale and the most expensive cities purchased recently in a 'hot' category.
@Kayseezus thanks for the update ! it's awesome to see them working on improving the site already, looks promising for the future.
They also made the site load faster and are advertising a $100 prize for the best trader each week on their homepage
@Kayseezus yes that's what I got too. Their first iteration seems to create the ability for people to trade on a p2p market like craigslist, by city.
The addition of the chat feature has generated some renewed interest in cityonchain. I'm now seeing my cities as potential investments and have removed some of my bigger cities from the on-sale price. Keen to see the events, OTC and dating features now.
I agree it's awesome seeing some development on adding features to the cities, it helps imagine how this app could become huge.
Chat works fine for me, check out Huntington Beach
