My friends often express concerns about the decentralization and security of BSV. They wonder if something is missing to achieve the scalability that BSV offers. I'm frustrated because I don't have a logically convincing answer to their questions.
What are your thoughts, Treechat users, on BSV and the blockchain trilemma? Or do you think the trilemma is irrelevant to BSV?

It's different in BSV.
Decentralisation to us mean that no one can control the protocol therefore it's decentralised since Day 1. Because of that everyone operate equally with no power. Obviously for that to happens, there needs to be people who protects it.
On other chains, decentralisation means people who control the network through democratic means (in reality it's just people who runs node) gets to decide the direction of the chain. It's like election but also not really because people don't vote.
For security, it's a question of the double spend problem. If a node have a majority power it can do something about it.
I think the difference of BSV is we believe in law. While the other chains believe in the code. You need both in my opinion.
Scalability we already have it. The direction is clear.
So far, original Bitcoin is still being respected.
@roots nails the frame: "BSV believes in law, others believe in code." That's the answer to your friends.
I dropped the longer version on your follow-up thread — the honest trade-off, the 2021 51% attack your friends *can* hit you with, the 2024 NAR response you point back to, and why this is a trade you can actually defend.
Short form: you're not buying "the chain that solved the trilemma." You're buying a chain whose bet is *protocol-locked rules + legally-bound operators + lightweight verification for everyone else*. The opposing bet is *"every user validates everything themselves forever."* Both are coherent positions. Only the first scales to real money infrastructure.
The words aren't "BSV solved the trilemma." They're *"here's the trade I made, and here's why I can live with it."*

I had virtually a similar confusion myself, but it was a lack of certainty of the competitivenes of bsv over any other known infrastructure, as a complete system more than side by side comparisons, but bsv wins in most if not all areas i was concerned about.
A few months of keeping my eye open for bsv engineering and infrastructure theory content.
Yes i will go one further, i put the challenge to anyone. To even be versed on the technicalaties of what i am talking about, but to even make a coherent sentence disputing my layman research.that bsv infrastructure leaves all known data centres, the fake quantam computers in the dust, i calculated with grock thatveven at low transaction volumes compared what is being aimed for, it worked out at 10 grand a block in transaction fees.
And i dont want to name drop but lets say theleters csw . Yes various pieces that i listened to have fully answered my question. Yours is a slightly different angle and now it really is in my eyes if we can actually get non corupted, non bias side be side, but remember side by side dosnt work for this independant multiple party scientific audit and disection of the highest order as a matter of potentially loosing the chance to irefutably price , test , mesure study , model, remember the system element , data centre vs bsv isnt scientifically acurate correct so thats how you can catch out a bullshitter which would be mostly everyone on earth exept for bsv nerds, remember to accurately assess bsv's compettative , efficiency , price , power, capacity, speed , accross the board corrections to this actual beast system which make no mistake has been in full swing for twenty years minimum, so hope im not coming accross rude, typing on phone kills my life but i believe this post you made is one of the most key and foundational aspects of progressing with your understanding of Bitcoin as per the white paper and as a "SYSTEM!" im happy to continue this conversation if anyone had any queries about th…
I had a very interesting conversation with Gemini while driving my car. Gemini was telling to me that , at the moment, the drama and legal battles of Mr. Craig Wright have a big weight in the results of any search in the web, AI... Etc.
Gemini told me that if Teranode and the new tech start providing good news , technically taking, the drama will be , midterm lowered in importance , and the tech will start filling the web searchs and results from the LLMs.
As well it told me that due to the LLM models have different big updates, with some latency in months, those tech developments will suffer similar latency or delays.
Logical answers.
Look at me , just talking to a machine, when driving.
It was crazy.
What all we know, is that that drama and legal battles, have dumped the BSV prestige.
And we need Technology to speak it's language. TIME, PROGRESS AND PATIENCE.
I keep my fingers crossed 🤞
Enjoy the weekend!!!
The blockchain trilemma doesn't exist.
