You can't be the hero of your own story without being the idiot in someone else's.

Can you elaborate on why that is?
Competition IMO. The only society were there is real incentive to not be an asshole/idiot would be a traditional christian one, like the amish f.e.
Why would someone not be an asshole/idiot in a traditional christian society?
Because it lowers your social status. Humility gets rewarded, arrogance and selfishness get punished. And because every man has his own wife, there's no absolute need to become the alpha of the group to spread ones genes. No need to go against fellow men.
That just disguises competition under a bunch of lies.
It's coopetition in the true sense of the word. You compete in cooperating. The one who gives the most, receives the most. If the christian doctrine is correctly applied, it's an upward spiral for each individual in the group.
I don't believe christianity is actually capable of accomplishing that and I think that christians have been deceived into acting against their own interest. The Amish can be seen to be an unhappy society by the degree to which it is difficult to leave.
Doubt that. www.businessinsider.com/if-you-want-to-be-happier-should-you-be-a-billionaire-or-be-amish-2012-4?r=DE&IR=T Every amish gets the chance to experience the outside world for a year and still most of them decide to return to their group.
Thats generalizing.
Amish are actually encouraged to leave their communes in their late teens/20s and see the world. The brainwash there is strong. Alot go exploring and most come back for the values.
Theres a youtube series about that.
It is difficult to leave because their education fails to prepare them for the outside world. There are also social punishments for people who decide to leave. It is difficult to leave and Amish society creates that difficulty.
To you it's brainwashing, to them it's education. Your concept of morality might be seen as brainwashing by other humans beeings belonging to another group with different dogmas.
Social group cohesion is something which many people in our culture are missing/longing for. Might be a feature, not a bug.

Christians have been deceived in that they have mistaken the ethos of their specific church for the logos of the real world. Rational philosophy should align with the way the world works. If dishonesty necessary to maintain the culture it is false.
Monotheistic religions are designed to enhance group cohesion and raise birthrates of its followers. From an evolutionary stand point they are superiour to groups with moralic relativism and lower social cohesion. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrsQY9Bw-kk
Money is a better monotheistic god because it still works even when everyone knows it's a shared idea and it enables greater group cohesion on large scales.
Why do you think that? I could just kill you and take your money. There's no moral foundation behind money. If I am smart enough to not get caught, my social status would rise. Group cohesion would decline.
Money is a broader but lower resolution God. BitCoin is a more illuminated form of this which is good but subjective variations create externalities within the network. Religions are efficient solutions to the boundaries of collective value.
I have already explained why I think that in the twetch you are responding to. You can also attempt to use nefarious means to gain social status as a christian.
The only reason you are declaring robbery and murder as nefarious means is because of religious dogma. Times used to be different before religious morals came along.
No I'm not. Please don't tell me what is in my mind.
We are all influenced by the norms of our society, which are a result of religious morals. There were societies in which rape and murder were not immoral and normal at their time.
I cannot attest to the cause of moral systems within societies with a reasonable degree of certainty but I can observe the effects of defined institutions. Religions provide subculture orientation through subjective alignment.
Look as like @931 has a fire going here. Before I go and get some popcorn, why would one be considered an idiot in someone else's story while being a hero in one's own story?
What christian doctrine are you talking about? from the great church, after great schism (11th century)? protestant reformation (16th century)? eastern? western? or are you just talking about the last 100+ something years since your grandparents and WWI¿?
Scripture. New testament.
The original whitepaper.
That doesn't mean that you know that religious dogma is the only reason for me to say something. (Dogma is actually the opposite of reason btc.)
Because you are commanded to love your neighbor as you love your self. Christians also have to forgive others to be forgiven by Christ. Meekness and humbleness should be the hallmarks of a good Christian. We all fall short imo
I don't think commanding someone to love makes any sense. People would just not do it.
