I thought Elon’s making Likes private on X was a step in that direction actually. I can see people more accurately signalling what they care about now that votes are private.

Yeah, it gives and it takes simultaneously, but people can still comment and share a post. I think overall, it'll probably make engagement more accurate, like private voting does.
