The goal, imo, is the creation of a world government that controls all land, resources and weapons.

The situation we are in right now is just another step in that direction, getting more people dependend on the state, controlling our lives even more.

In order to get the people to accept the loss of sovereignty they need global problems that need for global solutions, global governance, like:

Terrorism
Clinate change
Pandemics
Economic crisis

The globalists have been talking about this for a very long time. Socialism is one of their tricks to get the people and their property under central control.

At bottom it's all about money. It's been known for a long time that the global monetary system would run out of steam around 2020-2025.
So the 'pandemic' (which is obviously no such thing) is used as an excuse for a reset.

They need this cover because this 'reset' is not a return to good times. The new normal will be perpetual high unemployment everywhere, and consequent reduction in wages and living standards for most. A general flattening of 'the people'.

So everyone is dependent on the state for UBI, and any and all employment and therefore upward mobility is only possible with the approval of the state. Just like Soviet Russia.

Once you grant people power over others the natural development is this:

Those who should least have power are attracted to it.

Once they have it the tendency is to centralize it and consolidate it and make sure it is never lost again.
