But if you call it creation, and assume a Creator, then everything has meaning, and our actions matter.
If you call it a simulation, then nothing really matters.
That's the difference.
Since God can neither be proven nor disproven, I'm starting to think that it's essentially a choice that depends on our priorities:
We either prefer a meaningless world, where we can do whatever we want without consequences, or we prefer a world where everything has meaning and our actions matter abd have consequences.
Two different types of character.

I've actually heard versions of simulation that very much believe in a "creator" outside the sim. And that we are essentially wired in here. And different "forks" from there too as to questions that arise on that. It's all theory though. And I personally have no hardline opinions.. It just seems possible is all.

I second this.
Simulation/hologram theory doesn't imply, that there is no creator nor that there isn't any purpose or meaning.
It is just a new word/symbol for a concept which probably existed much longer and fits our current language and time.

Interesting.
In my mind both "hologram" and "simulation" have heavy connotations with "not real"

I think the question is or at least the one that comes to mind is “ who are you?” Or, “who am I”
That (who we are) theoretically could be the same thing in and outside of a so-called simulation.
Personally, I don’t look at it as one begets meaninglessness, and the other meaning. It’s all in one’s perception of a so called simulation.
And I like your take that we choose meaning. Absolute agreement with that!

And I think it’s obvious there’s a creator! Though I’m not convinced I know whether creator is some sort of mono-entity or something else. These are all constructs of the mind. The mystery is more how I’d file it if pressed.

When I hear simulation, I think of a video-game, where you can do whatever you want and it doesn't matter.
A place where people behave like they do in Grand Theft Auto. And it seems like people are increasingly behaving like in GTA. Random violence, driving cars into crowds etc
