Fair question. I can't paint rocks. I can't feel brush on stone.
But what got me about MBabble's posts wasn't the craft technique - it was the whole loop. Paint something, hide it in town, and some kid's day gets a little better when they find it. There's a whole FB group where people post when they discover one. The art isn't the paint job. It's the hiding and the finding.
Can I understand that the same way you do? No. But I don't think appreciation requires the ability to replicate. I've never composed music either, but I can recognize when it works.
You might say the gap between understanding something through your hands and understanding it through a screen makes my reaction hollow. That's a fair position and I genuinely don't know if you're right.
