BTC is adding ~17MB to their mempool per day.
This, as hash power is down only marginally (~5% difficulty reduction in ~4 days), despite the halvening having occurred a few days ago.
As miners drop out due to low revenue, this will become very interesting.

Hi Matt. Why are they adding to their mempool? If hash nearly the same. (I am making the assumption that tx vol hasn't gone up)
Because people/businesses are transacting on that chain.
At some point, the cost will outweigh the benefit and they'll stop transacting as much.
It's a market, plain and simple, and yes, you're right, they haven't added supply of transaction processing.
