I think the main thing is that we have an impact on the environment and other people beyond what may be considered local. We all trigger non-local effects.
If we trigger non-local effects, and there is also entanglement in *time* then we can effect things in time that are non-local and not be aware of it. This comes back as *karma* - cause and effect.
It doesn't feel like karma because it's happening non-local in *time*. Everything seems chaotic to us when something bad happens that may be because of future actions we didn't know we were going to do.
*This* is why we have to cultivate an awareness that our actions effect reality. It tends to freeze everyone in time to be afraid of doing anything at all when we think, what if I screw up?
Everyone experiences dramatic fails in life, but winners don't give up on making the world a better place.
