Our brains store information, memory however is never stored in an immutable form! (scary huh!)
Every time you invoke memory, that memory get’s changed and stored again.
It is why I can’t wait until @elonmusk builds BSV into my brain!

We store experiences, which are subject to perception. And our perception changes over time. Also, we tend to remember the things that impacted us the most. I'm definitely not looking forward to implanting myself with a memory chip. Not for me!
In a way, one could question whether who you think you are, can ever be a reflection of what you really are since your memory clearly distorts things.
It is why people can believe certain events happened, that did not happen!
I am not sure I want to connect whatsapp to my brain!
What is interesting is that the events we store do depend on our perception and the way we perceived that reality, but over time this memory get’s changed as we invoke it and add changes to it.
I think that who we currently are inevitably colors our perception of the past. Think of breaking up with your first love, which was horrible when it happened, yet now you can probably laugh at it. In a sense, our past evolves as we do.
It is weird in a sense that what defines you today seems to be based on memories of the past that have been distorted by thinking of the past.
Maybe we should stop invoking memories, to really stay true to ourselves? 😁
It depends how you think of them. In the case of a traumatic experience, it will literally put people into a prison of their own mind.
That's why it's important to go through those memories again and to rewrite your perception in order to free yourself.
