How does Boris sleep at night?
The UK is in its worst recession for 300 years.

Doesn’t matter who the PM is, no one could stop this recession.
I think the ones who should be woke at night are those who elected him. He is no different from what he was 3 years ago.
The recession is a direct result of lockdown which was not necessary. Boris and his government imposed the lockdown, he is responsible for this disaster.

If the hospitals will not be overloaded if we open again, than I agree, open it up. That is still the only reason for the lockdown. Germany is doing that and monitoring the R0 in order to tier their easing. Seems very smart to me.
We don't want hospitals overloaded.
But we also don't want a global great depression, and famines.
Optimizing for one at the expense of the other is highly unlikely to be optimal overall.
Regarding NY, I know by a direct contact from a medical staff that it was really really hard.
The question is how cautious you have to be when opening up because the effects of tightening are felt only weeks later.
Hospitals in the UK have been the quietest ever. I suggest a read of the article I linked.
I suppose because of lockdown + fear.
We will see, Sweden will be hit hard economically even if there is no lockdown apparently.
I am eager to see some easing AND no signs of collapse of the health system, I will celebrate this a lot.
If we didn’t lockdown and your family members become serious ill, you’d be blaming him for that as well.
but no one would be blaming anyone if we had no idea about any of this. and we would have no idea if they didn't bring it up non stop. It is pretty much all in our minds. The point probably was to crash the economy
