Boost is already being used in retrotwetch! There are enough projects that are incorporating it now that I am certain it will be a success. Once it gets going it will change the world rapidly.

Boosting is glorified charity to miners and shotgun costly targeting at best..by someone with bad aim.

I have a high level of confidence that a system that pays content creators directly will be what works best for boosting or liking.

Boost is like purchasing a neon sign for your oyster stall in an oyster market. It will naturally attract buyers, but they still need to check the quality of the oysters. A seller would only invest in the sign if he was confident his oysters were better.

Boost is like burning money. It's a costly signal, but a supremely common one that is offensive. If it plays out like real life, 9 of 10 of those signals will be false. Boost is embarrassing..segwit level embarrassing.

Once we get Boost incorporated into Twetch it won't even be worth it to you to bother saying that!

Twetch ·

If it's implemented on Twetch, I probably won't be interested in Twetch anymore for all the noise created by people who have more money than they ought to have.

Twetch ·

It's a stable strategy so eventually you won't be able to avoid it.

Boost is precisely the same as variable payments for likes. Having miners do a pony show in the background doesn't really change that. The critical difference is you're paying miners for an unnecessary show instead of paying content creators. Thumbs down.

Twetch ·

It's not the same.

Twetch ·

If you do a box diagram, it pretty much is. The debate on whether the costly signal will be effective or appropriate seems to have devolved to a religious one.

Twetch ·

They are different but you just don't really listen when I try to explain the difference to you.

Twetch ·

I'm not sure our ideas on Boost systems are completely incompatible. You won't catch me Boosting anything, but I'll be happy to give the boosted content an accurate 5 star rating.

Not to put words in you mouth but it sounds like you think Boost is not valuable to you thus it isn't at all. Lots of people think bitcoin is worthless, but its value is independent of individual opinions. Boost enables people who disagree to fliter you.

Twetch ·

Not worthless. But probably as valuable as the "Promoted" ads on Twitter. Essentially Boost is the same model if you ignore what's under the hood..except probably less refined because those Twitter "boosts" are weighted based on my accumulated profile.
