Bitcoin doesn’t solve the problem of Jack being hacked. I’m willing to bet it’s easier to steal the private keys of some of the people here than it is to hack Jacks twitter account

I agree.
We need to get further along the identity journey of Bitcoin before we can say identity handling is better on Bitcoin.
The framework for how to handle such an instance needs to be built as services, so exposed PK does not mean lost ID.
