CBDC was in first version of US covid bill (later removed).

I don't see the point. The dollar is mostly digital already. They are just further wasting tax payer money.

That begs the question why IMF, BIS, fed, etc. are interested.
I think it has something to do with this:
"Given that a CBDC can allow for digital records and traces, it could improve the application of rules... and reduce informal economic activities."
