The best book I've read on Jews is called "Jewish History, Jewish Religion" by Israel Shahak. The book describes modern jews as a remnant of the upper class of ancient Israel. Modern Jews seem to share attitudes of ancient upper classes, such as that of the ancient Greeks.

That would explain why you hardly ever find a jew doing hard physical work, I suppose.

Yes the stereotype is that jews hate physical work like farming and that is just how the ancient greek upper class felt. That sort of thing was for the lower class, the decedents of the people who created the Minoan civilization.
