Federal bonds, money market funds, dividend dunds, Large cap funds, possibly consumer staples, stocks of companies with very healthy balance sheets and little debt

Gold may not be a great asset to hodl either imo. it did outperform other assets in 3 of the last 4 recessions though. Not sure about now

Looked into Palladium? Im skeptical it's recession proof though cause it's value seems utility driven.
