So basically women are attracted to manly men mid-cycle, when estrogen and luteinising hormone are spiking, provoking ovulation. The combination of estrogen and progesterone mimics pregnancy, which is what most combined pill birth control does, which tends to prevent ovulation and mid-cycle ‘friskiness’. Progesterone only pill tends not to suppress ovulation, depending somewhat on body fat composition, etc. So friskiness still occurs unless a woman has low enough body fat that her cycle is suppressed altogether.
