Everyone who knows about Bitcoin is aware of the "middle-man problem".
P2P electronic cash eliminates the middle-man in currency. Maybe not completely, but to a high degree.
But the middle-man is a problem in other domains too.
There aren't only banking cartels, but also communication cartels. Just like with bitcoin, there should be p2p communication (beyond 2-way radio) that doesn't depend on a middle-man who can shut it down, censor it and eavesdrop. Mashtastic and Reticulum are steps in that direction.
Finally, the government itself is a problematic middle-man. It is essentially a parasite that siphons off money from what it "redistributes", which inevitably leads to more and more "redistribution" of which less and less reaches those it was meant for - and instead ends up in the pocket of the redistributors.
Technology is making such middle-men superfluous, but they aren't giving up without a fight.
