a link is a consumated search, a search is an unconsumated link
if you think about an empty quest (and this isnt articulated perfectly in the ux yet etc etc)... its a title that is also a search query, so that title represents some set of content which satisfies that search query... but then when you quote (link) certain search results into that quest, you are consumating the link; you are saying i found something good at this place and time and have strengthened the relationship between them
ie. showing up in search results is a kind of weak, but automated link, but then quoting a search result allows you to say yes... this relationship is explicitly important in the context this quest creates
ie. a search and a link are not different things to me but just weaker and stronger forms of the relationship between two pieces of content: the quest and the quoted answer
