apparently rhesus monkeys can literally predict elections just by looking at photos of the candidates. the effect size was only 54% so i'm holding off on my plans to construct a monkey lab and make millions off the prediction markets for now, but it was indeed statistically significant, the moneys seem to have been picking up on something real

also the mechanism is nuts, it seems to be a dominance thing. the ones they looked at for less time were the ones that were more likely to win, supposedly because the monkeys were worried about offending the winner by looking at them too long
