What is the best weight lifting program?
@78 Yep, I'm already quite familiar with that. Read it back in 2010. I base my routine on that one and the Texas Method 馃榿
@385 https://startingstrength.com/ Cheesy website, Pick up the book, Mark Rippetoe is a beast
Very good to hear. Was grateful to run into Mark's material and improve my form/strength
I would suggest a 12 rep burn out. If you can do more it's too light. Can't do 12 then it's too heavy. Sit-ups and push-ups don't require anything so the only thing it requires is you.
@878 I tend to do anywhere from 3 - 8 reps. I don't usually go as high as 12, but I might try a program like that in the next year or two.
Regarding rep range I think it's good to switch it up. Low reps are good for strength. Higher reps better for size. You can't let your body get used to one type of training for too long or you'll plateau.
I like to use free weights. Dumbbells and barbells. Compound exercises that train many muscle groups at the same time. This helps you get good overall strength and balance and makes sure you train your whole body. Kettlebells are also great.
