Has anyone noticed the huge markup for BSV purchases on BuyBSV.com?
13% currently as it stands using CAD or EUR....

That's huge

Yeah I just checked GBP as well. It's £121 for 1 BSV then the bank/card fee on top. So £125.23 for 1 BSV paying by Card. That's Coinify, buybsv always seems to be a little more, like 70/80p.
BSV is trading at £112 now.

Poloneix/Simplex on the other hand charges just 3.5% on credit card.... to buy BTC which can be simply converted to BSV.

Twetch ·

It just dropped to £118.35 for 1 BSV on Coinify but the trading price didn't drop. Why would it drop £2.65 without a change in trading price? I used this before and never noticed this. Wouldn't have paid it if the markup was that high.

Yeah for sure. I used to send funds direct to coinbase pro by bank transfer (about 2 hours), then buy BTC, switch it to USDC, then send that to Poloniex to buy BSV. It was a lot cheaper (very close to market price) until fees got added to coinbase pro.

I can live with 3.5% above market price for card but 10-13% is insane. I haven't tried the bank account purchase via buybsv or coinify yet. 0.5% fee I think for that. Sooner we have wallet top ups that better. Curious what sort of limits will be on them.

Twetch ·

Its a bit much isn't it, This is why we need more onramp systems DIRECT to BSV. I hope that many are working on this as we need more competition in this market ASAP.

Twetch ·

You should be able to do a bank transfer directly to Poloniex? you still need to purchase BTC, but at least their fees are cheaper, and credit card is also an option there.

Twetch ·

I'll work it out now from an email receipt I have, just have to go back and check market price at the time of purchase.

Twetch ·

Yeah I would be happy with 5% markup. It's volatile so they have to try to minimise risk. And the 3.5% card fee is standard. I just hope wallet top ups are better & not overly limited.

Twetch ·

But my other options are not much cheaper. We need options that are easy just like Coinify & buybsv but that don't have a crazy markup of the market value. Nearly £6 over market price is a rip off. The payment fee I can live with.

Twetch ·

Yeah I seen they added bank deposit on Poloniex. Must have a look at that. My cards & bank are GBP though so I would probably get hit with a conversion fee from my issuer. Wondering now if my travel card would work. I can store Euros in that.

Twetch ·

It seems that the rate of buybsv.com to buy Btcoin SV is 5% .... does anyone confirm?

Twetch ·

Currently they are 13% marked up from Current market value on buybsv.com
Until 5% is acceptable IMO. But this is far too high especially when you are supposedly buying from "the source"

Twetch ·

I saw this like 5 minutes after I made my first purchase from buybsv! Maybe that’s why they only let you do €100 as your first purchase; then when you complain they can be like “well, we gave you a chance to suss it our first mate”

Twetch ·

Right so I bought some on Coinify on 15th July. Market price at the time was roughly £102.70 give or take a little. Purchase worked out at £108.21 per BSV excluding total payment fee of £8.54. So a large markup indeed.

Twetch ·

Ah I I see the issue. Since majority of the market is based on USD, the rates online for other fiat currencies aren't showing up as accurate, They seem to have around a 5% markup on price which overall isn't so bad, though it certainly could be better.

It would also help if there was a direct source for information of general real-time exchange rate, since there are no trading pairs with EUR/CAD/GBP etc,
