Does anyone have a link to gun price data over time? Gun sales are at an all time high in the US (and presumably around the world, where legal). So I'm curious to see how it's weighing against price in retail & secondary markets.

Not sure if there's data.

Retail price for handguns and rifles has remained the same. Secondary market on auction and classified ad style sites is WAY up. I’d guess anywhere from 15% to 35% for popular guns with popular calibers.

I currently am licensed to sell firearms and ammunition and yes!!! You are absolutely right. They are flying off the shelf at my store. It is a struggle to keep them in stock. As well as exercise equipment. Ridiculous traffic!!!! But no data sorry

Precisely. I have 3 gun stores within about 10 miles, and all they have in stock is weird size/brand/caliber stuff. Gunbroker prices are also bonkers, so I was wondering if anyone charts the pricing over time. Popular ammo is also expensive or unavailable.

I'd be curious to talk to you about doing some business. Can you hit me up? I'm @kurtwuckertjr on Telegram and Keybase.

Twetch ·

Just need the data. That would be interesting 🤔

I’ve never lost money on Guns or Ammo. Ammo is almost as good as gold.

Twetch ·

So true about popular ammo. 22LR was almost impossible to find a few years ago.

Twetch ·

Agreed. I told a few people in January and Feb, when the pandemic was still just a China thing that they should stock up. It's good as a money substitute. @2 and I have talked about it quite a bit. Now I'm curious to see about total value since then!

There is a gunbot that searches the web for ammo, I will try to find it

Gunbot.net

I know it! Couldn't buy any for a very long time! I think 9mm is going to be similar for a spell.

Twetch ·

You are dead on about what is in the shops 🤣 Prices have not gone up much on guns. Availability has so most are auctions. There a few sites that keep getting them and have "in stock searches" My go to: tinyurl.com/y3ftjujt

Twetch ·

They will ship to your local store and you pick up there. They are a great company to buy from

Twetch ·

Yes! Big fan of Buds. Cabela's only has pink and turquoise pocket pistols from brands I've never heard of - chambered in .32! Lol

Twetch ·

The Gun Bot was born from that Ammo scarcity a few years ago...amazing ingenuity

Twetch ·

Cabella's & Bass Pro Shops (same thing with firearm sales) is also good at misdirection so availability only comes after many "clicks" I would rather give my business to a straight forward site that doesn't jerk me around

Twetch ·

Agreed. My local dealers are pretty rough right now too though. Last I went to my favorite shop, they had a 3 hour long line out the door just to shop!

Twetch ·

The reason why pink .32's are in is the .320 caliber is perfect for people wanting concealed carry pistols which means 9mm and above are more available. A pink one would fit well in the "man purse" 😂

Twetch ·

Because some states like Indiana are offering FREE gun permit fees. The depopulation movement is strong 😉

Not like that here. The only people going to the store here are picking up new guns. I ship ammo straight to my house

Gun broker can get you data of past sales but you have to pay $5 for a report.
