Anyone else go through a phase of mental struggle with getting older (as in, mid 30's or so. Not "old" but no longer "young")
I did.

You might not believe it but I don't have such problems in my mid seventies. It's just a matter how you feel, how you are looking forward to something exciting.
Seriously its possible to feel as good when you are 70+ as when you were twenty.
