Another interesting approach to the US elections from the point of view of the rulers would be to steal the election so obviously from Trump that massive protests occur. That would also be a very useful situation.

But people are so highly medicated that I'm not sure you can even get them out to the streets. You'd have to cut the supply chains for their pills first.
I think this is actually the most realistic scenario, and the one I am most worried about... but the reason they would do this is precisely bc Trump is a threat that this is the most appealing option
If you want to create civil unrest because it serves your goals it doesn't matter whether or not Trump is a threat. He'd just be a tool.
