How many anarchists would exist if governments used bitcoin for everything?
If they are made to be honest, and truth is publicly available, how does that change politics?
“Law” isn’t a threat to bitcoin. It’s a threat to tyranny, crime & corruption.

1. That will never happen.
2. Law has done tremendous damage to Bitcoin already.
3. And I’d still be an “anarchist” because taxation of any kind is theft!!
1Jvg1Ggqo564iuyaLE1RqEdGetwqzNCC1L (116) ·
Truly the “governments will be forced to be honest because they’re going to use BSV” argument seems as naive to me as “code is law.”

Do you think anarchy implies crime? Anarchy means without rulers. no slaves. The people could still use a moral system like Bitcoin (as anarchists) and get along just fine. For example I sell you eggs via handcash based on mutual respect & understanding.

Summoning @24. He has often said that the lure of PoW will incentivize institutions of states to become miners.
The problems of the state are rooted in their stake. Better incentives beget better systems: voluntary, competitive systems.

perhaps but 'taxation is theft' is the height of naivete.

Mining bitcoin =! they will put their financial activities on a private ledger.
And a monopoly on force trumps all other incentives.

To that end, bitcoin becomes the enforcement of property rights where states have failed.
The law in the current paradigm has harmed bitcoin, but bitcoin can (must) shift the paradigm of understanding about self sovereignty and relationship to others.

The Catholic Church lost its monopoly on force due to the creation of the printing press and reduced friction in the dissemination of information via books.
Trustworthy information with ease of access is more powerful than armies.

Once you start mining you're in a kindness contest so you want to eliminate your own power in order to win it.

Venezuela, Iran and DPRK

Well now you’re just sounding like an anarchist ;) Government is defined by having a monopoly on force.

If they were doing anything other than subsidized hashing, they would be. Small blocks and a long tail subsidy on BTC have extended their laziness and power based on their stake.

I don’t consent to the monarch or the oligarchs, if that’s what you mean. They are just people, and they need to be more properly incentivized to cooperate more fairly in the economy.

What’s wrong with utilising a democratic process and voting to change tax laws? If enough people agree then the laws can be changed.

Speaking as a former baptist. Luther was a heretic. Protestantism has fractured into a thousand churches each with their own doctrine.

One of the perks of bitcoin is that it makes smaller and smaller nations feasible to fun efficiently. If the US was a thousand nations (or more), participation becomes increasingly voluntary as smaller groups aren’t lost in the shuffle. This is a net good.

That is an interesting idea.
My point is Bitcoin can be an apolitical system for the entire world, and someone can still fight to change tax laws, those things are exclusive.
So Deryk’s stance on taxes should not be an issue he considers.

They came AFTER the Catholic Church. The Apostle Peter was the first pope. The Church was literally built on top of his grave. “ and I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.”
1JhKv5bs1wpHRYFAQS4qF5zhKfAnXAy2UL (200) ·
I don’t think that history is accurate. Jesus was sarcastic to Simon because he was unreliable. Jesus called him “Petras” as a joke because Simon “Peter” was not a man with a reputation of trustworthiness or firm foundations.
The Greek is crucial here.

1JhKv5bs1wpHRYFAQS4qF5zhKfAnXAy2UL (200) ·
Yes, it is disputed. The Catholics are predated by the churches of Jerusalem and Antioch. The apostolic era established churches in Thessalonica, Philippi, Ephasus, etc... these churches were not “Katholikos.”

These churches got partially absorbed by the Nicean Church of Rome, during which the Orthodox Christians resisted the take-over by the Romans.
