I am always willing to pay for quality in the products I buy.
If it won't last me, it's a waste.
If it doesn't cost me, I'm less likely to use it.
If it does cost me, I'll think more clearly about whether or not it's valuable enough to me to buy it.

One way I determine which tools I’ll use is by buying the cheapest version of it then when I breaks from use I buy the best one I can afford.
This method has rarely steered me wrong.
I've yet to regret paying for a quality hairdryer and vacuum (both Dyson products). These tools are daily timesavers. 5 min. to dry hair instead of 20, multiplied over years, is a difference I can spend on more worthwhile pursuits. (Like social media. /s)
You can also occasionally find treasures at thrift stores (vintage, low price, well-made). It costs time to hunt for the gems amongst the low quality items though. I don't visit thrift stores too often any more but it was fun to do as a student.
Yeah, I see a purpose for the buy cheap first method.
And yes, exactly, Satoshi Doodles. Saving time, energy, and money over time. Quality matters.
I also do this with food. You are your own greatest asset, and you are what you eat. Get the highest quality nutrition.
Yes, I suffer on that front (food). Combination of over indulgence and laziness. But I'm working on it.
