The alternative media has so far failed completely to challenge the most important weapon of mainstream media: controlling the discourse. With very few exceptions, all the alternative media does is REACT to the narratives of the mainstream. That's not a winning strategy. Whatever comes from the mainstream is reacted to by the alternative media in what is little more than an echo.

yea, it's interesting, but even though it seems like alternative media often has a bigger audience, my perception is still that the agenda is still set by main stream media... maybe this is because people recognize that they are the voice of the current regime, the voice of power
