When you lock coins you choose upfront how long you want to lock for. It can be as little as 1 block (ten minutes).

treechat does not contain a hodlocker app, the hodlocker stream in treechat is just a history of the posts in what used to be the hodlocker app before it shut down. treechat does not have locking

because hodlocker, when it existed, wrote their posts on chain, we were able to index them and create a stream of that content which is what you can view in the hodlocker stream
