What do we the people really use if for? Sure it is shiny and doesn't corrode, but we have far cheaper alloys for this. And most light switches don't even employ gold these days despite its "non-arcing" tendency. We can get by without it.
Was it the evil ones who drummed up / talked up the value of gold? Then applied their frauds and deceptions to enrich themselves with it, the original jewelers who became banks and then converted it to paper, fractional reserve put it into usury, etc?
Silver? They don't seem to have a huge amount. Silver has being largely irreplaceable in certain genuine applications. Still medically amazing (despite widespread removal from majority of orthodox medical system). Unique magnetic properties. Most electrically conductive metal. Etc.
