The Glorious Tale of the Northern Spring / Southern Autumn …
The Glorious Tale of the Northern Spring / Southern Autumn Equinox.
(In northern latitudes, this tale is about the annual equinox evening, when the sun passes beyond the horizon just before 6pm and will not do this again for another ~183 days. Now imagine watching the sky drama that unfolds.)
Thank you, our Heavenly Father, for blessing us with a clear sky, for we are watching the drama in the sky unfold from sunset this the evening of the northern spring equinox.
The sun reaches the horizon and no longer can the light pass directly through the atmosphere to reach our eyes, the sun appears to fall below the horizon and is no longer in our view.
The night curtain commences its journey from east to west.
The western sky is still glowing.
Sirius suddenly appears a little to the east of the north meridian - the first fixed star revelation this twilight.
Sirius is climbing towards highest prominence.
Other stars begin to appear, those of Gemini, which is culminating, lure our attention.
The Milky Way appears progressively like a nourishing stream flowing from east to west as the twilight continues to fade.
Taurus (west of Gemini) and Cancer (east) come into view (the fainter Cancer stars aided by the dimmer easterly sky).
As Sirius crosses the north meridian, the milk seems to arrive at the Silver Gate.
We marvel at the crescendo as the milk gushes through the gate and the glory of the whole night sky is now apparent.
(Some say that April used to be the first month, first day of the new year April 1st. And, that the evil ones who made the change rebranded April 1st to April fools day to embed the change.)
Blessing to all, glory to God.
