The first thing that comes to mind when i think of Anish Giri is out of a hundred or so top players in the world in the last 10 years ( the limit of my memory somewhat )
Is sometimes i would think yeah Anish Giri is good he's a top player.
But out of all of them, even Carlsen and Nakamura, of course Caruana, yeah out of all of them he somehow found himself not just competing in the 2026 Candidates, even just to qualify is a feat to behold.
Yeah winning some big games in this years Candidates, and if it wasn't for Sindarov's virtually unbeatable performance, he could have even won it.
Just unbelievable, year after year grinding, it's just amazing. It really makes you wonder, if he keeps this momentum up for just a few more years , at this rate we could be looking at a new world champion by the name of Anish Giri. Also one would think he would need to mix it up a bit or do something remarkably novel or imaginative, to rise above this new generation of grandmasters that this traditional method of chess prep seems to be not even working for Caruana and Nakamura.
What must Giri do to rise up just those few more notches . Hes still young, and in a position to to actually be the world champion.
He would surely have an edge on the new generation of grandmasters with his vast experience at the top level. One cant help but to think and wonder what kind of training and what would Anish Giri have to do to be the world champion. It is surely within his reach.
And the next thing that comes to mind when i think of Anish Giri is his sense of humour.
I cant think of another top player that has as thick skin as Anish Giri, and very often comes up with stuff on twitter and other mediums and platforms that is truely funny, even to a person like me with a non existant sense of humour, he quite often comes up with stuff that makes you wonder, is this one of the worlds top chess players? How can he come up with the stuff he does?
