[43] Prevention and Treatment of Glaucoma
1/
Glaucoma is an eye disease in which vision is impaired due to abnormally high intraocular pressure, which occurs in the 30s to 40s, but occurs mainly after the 50s.

The intraocular pressure is between 10 and 20 mmHg in normal cases, but higher than that causes glaucoma and various ocular dysfunctions.

The reason for the increased intraocular pressure is that the exit of the ocular humor(房水)that infiltrates the inside of the eye is blocked by goniosynechia or the ocular humor is excessive.

2/
Symptoms of glaucoma are classified into two different types of symptoms: first, secondary glaucoma caused by a certain disease or trauma, and second, primary glaucoma, which occurs without any specific reason.

However, the exact cause of this primary glaucoma is still unknown.

Since the onset and progression of this primary glaucoma is usually progressive, some surveys show that about 1% of people are already developing glaucoma in adults over the age of 40, and most of them do not know. However, a satisfactory treatment effect is expected only if glaucoma is found and treated as early as possible.
3/
The onset and progression of glaucoma can be largely divided into two types. The first is acute glaucoma, and the progress is fast, such as severe headache and nausea as the eyes suddenly become dark.

In addition, blindness progresses in the eyeballs, and in most cases, symptoms occur only in one eye, so it is often impossible to be aware.

If this happens, you should check if your blindness progresses by covering one eye with your hand and examining the eyesight of your left and right eyes.

4/
The second is chronic glaucoma, which shows a relatively slow increase in intraocular pressure. Therefore, there are often symptoms that the eyes are well tired and somber, but severe symptoms do not occur well.

Then, if you cover one eye, you can't see well, or your vision gradually narrows down.

This type of glaucoma test is a common test for measuring eye pressure.

Therefore, if you are suspicious of glaucoma, you should go to the eye doctor for an eye pressure test.

5/
People who are prone to glaucoma are often found in cases of weak constitution, such as patients with severe myopic vision or diabetes, and are also said to be more likely to develop in a nervous women.

As a preventive method for glaucoma, there is no specific preventive method for a specific site, but it is a health management that can maximize the immune function of the human body and bring stability to the mind. In particular, it is thought that effective practice is to always practice eating, meditation, and healthy breathing.

6/
And in the treatment method, it is fundamental to prevent the increase in pressure by promoting the discharge of the ocular humor as a direct way to prevent the rise in intraocular pressure.

For this purpose, there are two types of surgery and drug therapy, which make an
outlet in the gonisosynechia where the ocular humor is discharged.

Medication therapy is a method of suppressing the rise of intraocular pressure by using a certain drug, and so far, it is used as an auxiliary method rather than a perfect treatment. Therefore, the treatment of glaucoma is the main method of surgery.

7/
However, the surgical method of glaucoma is to make a drainage hole between the corneas to maintain the discharge of the ocular humor. In addition, the surgical method is not only difficult, but also involves various difficulties, such as a case in which the hole is blocked even after surgery, and the discharge of the ocular humor is excessive.

However, recently, there have been several studies to maintain normal intraocular pressure and surgical methods, and it is hoped that an effective method will be developed as glaucoma treatment is developing to a new level.(fin)
